‘Happy Days’ Actress Erin Moran dies at 56

America’s petite sweetheart who was best known for her role as Joanie Cunningham on “Happy Days”, has passed away at the shockingly young age of 56 years.

The actress who lost her battle with cancer on April 22, 2017, New Salisbury, IN, died holding her husband’s hand.

Her husband Steve Fleischmann, who wed the star in 1993, explained that Moran, 56, had been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma (a rare form of throat cancer) in December 2016 just after the two had celebrated their wedding anniversary in late November.

“She started radiation and chemo,” Fleischmann said of her treatment for the disease, which he originally thought was tonsillitis. “Five days a week radiation and chemo only on Thursdays. It got so bad so fast.”

Moran married Fleischmann in 1993, and the two became lifetime companions living in southern California until their move to Indiana in 2010.

Born in Burbank, CA, Moran was acting in both movies and tv by the age of 10yrs. In 1974, she was cast in “Happy Days” as Joanie Cunningham, the kid sister to high school student Richie Cunningham, played by Ron Howard. She also starred on Gunsmoke, The Waltons along with multiple episodes of the tv series The Love Boat.
