Actor David Canary has died

The actor David Canary, who in his early career played a ranch foreman on Bonanza, and most recently played twin brothers Adam and Stuart Chandler on the ABC soap opera “All My Children,” has died at 77.


Canary died of natural causes on November 16, according to a Bouton Funeral Home obituary posted Tuesday. He is survived by wife of 33 years, Maureen. In addition to his wife, Canary is survived by his son, Christopher, his daughter, Kathryn, his grandson, Donovan Canary, and his brother John.

Canary delighted audiences in the dual roles of troublemaking businessmen Adam Chandler, patriarch of the aristocrat Pine Valley family, and his sweet counterpart Stuart, who spends years locked in the west wing of the Chandler mansion thanks to his twin brother. Kelly Ripa played actually played the role of his daughter and she tweeted her condolences as soon as she heard the sad news of his passing.

A memorial tribute will be set for a later date, according to the Canary family via the Wilton Bulletin.
