We review Saving Mr. Banks

I wouldn’t call Saving Mr. Banks an entirely surprising film but there is plenty that might shock and keep fans of the original Mary Poppins in suspense and tear up during the 125 minute picture.

We won’t provide any spoilers here but Emma Thompson portrays the dowdy and glib English book author P.L. Travers faithfully, albeit with the assistance of a frumpy hairdo and pursed lips with folded arms.

The role of Walt Disney may not be as believable because Tom Hanks is so readily recognizable to the Western world, but his acting is moving and genuine in the final scene where he as Disney reveals something about his childhood he’s rarely spoken about in public.
