Chateau Marmont of Hollywood

Chateau Marmont of Hollywood

The beautiful and mysterious Chateau Marmont is located at 8221 Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, California. The hotel was built way back in 1929 and it is said to have been designed to mimic the Château d’Amboise, which was a getaway for the royalty in France’s Loire Valley. Chateau Marmont opened its doors to the public as an apartment building on February 1, 1929 and was an instant hit with the locals. True, the digs made a splash with the locals but due to the Great Depression, demand changed and the apartments were forced to convert into a hotel. And so it is to this day a great shining example of French architecture along Sunset Boulevard in the middle of Hollywood…and Beverly Hills.

The hotel includes nine Spanish cottages and a beautiful swimming pool which you’re going to want to take a dip into as soon as you feast your eyes on it. The pool has been upgraded to modern standards yet maintains that mediterranean millionaire presence.

We were lucky enough to get a seat in the patio area and enjoyed a bottle of white wine along side a couple of beautiful appetizers, including Three Cheeses & Accoutrement and the Calamari & Puttanesca. Unbelievable! Or should I say “sacré bleu”! Both the hotel restaurant terrace and Bar Marmont feature market-fresh California cuisine from chef Dean Yasharian. I can certainly vouch for the freshness and fantastic service. They treat you like a hollywood star here and with a genuine interest in ensuring your happiness.

Chateau MarmontMy sisters and I met for lunch at the venerable Hollywood haunt called the Chateau Marmont.
